C7 Page 2
( From our correspondent Josef W. ) |
| After a total dismantling, the restore of C7 progresses, but with few visible effects. At this stage numerous details appear, and our attention goes now on the small parts. | |

The tracks of cut on the frame seem to have been explained now. Apparently, Voisin produce only one type of C7 chassis and it was
necessary to cut a crossbar to be able to accommodate the famous foot-baths in the back floor of the "Lulmineuses" two doors. We ignore
how Voisin could compensate for this decline of the rigidity, and thus it is necessary to us to add a " non geniune " part to strengthen
the chassis which was sanded and repainted.

Because of the numerous kilometers made by this car during its use most of the parts require a revision. In particular the typically Voisin parts such the crankcase of the Dynastar which has a breach requiring a weld, a " floating " assembly could maybe correct this problem. Sleeve valves were examined through X-rays, almost all the marks seen on-surface are only scratches. Nevertheless one of them is cracked. The mechanic in charge of the engine repaired it with blowtorch, that seems working, the anomaly being situated in its summit. |

The sleeve valve still needs a manual polishing, then the pair should work correctly. It is only an experiment but it should suit. One of the brake drums needed also of a weld. And now, all the parts were revised and are ready for the reassembly. Which will make as soon as the new parts of the axle will be made. |

The weld of the old aluminum works well and the back part is almost finished. Next challenge, the doors, their sheet steel must be removed from its armature. But once the aluminum raised and welded, will the rivets holes correspond? The roof has already received five coats of waterproofing filler, and if the appearance is good, a few applications will be still necessary to make it waterproof again. |
